No matter how big and powerful government gets, and the many services it provides, it can never take the place of volunteers.

Help Build A House For
Habitat for Humanity During Gay Days

How can I become a Construction Volunteer?
We begin our day at 8:15 AM and usually work until about 2:00 PM. Getting started is as easy as calling the Habitat office at (407) 648-4567 ext. 407. It's a good idea to call the day before to get directions to the active site on that day.

Do I need construction skills?
Although construction skills are a plus, they are not necessary. In fact, most of our volunteers have no skills when they first come out. However, don't be surprised if you walk away at the end of the day with some "hands-on" building experience.

What should I bring along?
We will provide all the tools necessary, but if you have your own tool belt feel free to bring it along. It's also not a bad idea to bring along a pair of work gloves.

You'll need to wear close-toed shoes (boots, if you have them) and clothes that you're not afraid to get dirty. We also suggest that you bring a sports bottle or container for drinks and your lunch or a snack. Water is provided on site.

Is there an age limit to volunteer?
Habitat is governed by the Florida Department of Labor, which limits the age of our volunteers to 16 years of age and older. Volunteers under the age of 18 are restricted to certain construction activities. The waiver form for volunteers under 18 years old is different than the one linked to here, please contact Jennifer Gallagher jgallagher@habitat-orlando.org to get a minor waiver.

Are there any opportunities besides Saturday?
Habitat's "Weekday Warriors" are at work Monday through Friday. The crew is mostly made up of retirees who work during the week or anyone who has weekday time to volunteer. If you are interested in becoming a Weekday Warrior, call the Habitat office for more information.

As well as working on homes Habitat has a range of other volunteer opportunities in the ReStore, in the office, and on various Committees.
The contact for the ReStore is Shirley Jones at (407) 426-7192.

Join us as we continue to build homes and hope…
One nail at a time!
